What a great show this week. Great
wine, great food, fun people and BANJO MUSIC. Not to mention tiny-ass
pumpkins and barefoot ladies. You don't want to miss this one! Listen
now and join the fun.
Chef
Steve D' Angelo from Nicks in Jackson and the Mermaid Cafe in
Madison really brought his A-game to the studio. For the first time
ever, we had food cooked on-premises and in real time. Chef Steve
whipped up some New Orleans style BBQ shrimp, duck and arugula flat
bread and his pastry chef, Mitchell Moore made a fantastic fall dessert
of pumpkin cheesecake, cooked and served in tiny little pumpkins.
Everyone made a happy plate. If you want to eat Steve's food (and I
highly suggest that you do), call Nick's (601) 981-8017 or the Mermaid Cafe (601) 605-8764 and make a reservation.
There
are a few certainties in this world...reading Clarion Ledger "Letters
to the Editor" will make your blood pressure rise, Taco Bell will leave
one item out of your drive-through order and Scott Jackson loves
Riesling. To illustrate that point, the wines we had on this week's
show were High Def Riesling, Kung Fu Girl Riesling and a little Leese
Fitch Pinot Noire thrown in for diversity. "Rieslings are too sweet."
you say? No Grasshopper. Rieslings can be as dry as the high Mongolian
Dessert. Go by Colony wine Market and pick up a couple bottles.
I
love banjo music. Other than while canoing through the Georgia
backwoods, I can't think of a time and place that banjo music couldn't
enhance. Radio shows are no exception. This week, our good friend
Valley Gordon joined us in the studio and started serenading us in the
Underground 119/Ground Zero Blues Club green room and continued the
music during the show. Go be her friend on Facebook and go hear her play live!
